During my vacation, I had a desire to get portraits of every member of my family. It was more than just simply wanting to, it was as if capturing them in image would still connect us. My biggest fear is that they’ll get use to me being gone. And I so need to feel connected to them and still part of their lives.
I failed at getting everyone, turned out to be a little harder than I thought. I did get at least one member of every family. But I love what I have so far. And maybe with the next visit I can get those I missed.

Our visit to an orchard.

And what breaks my heart is this boy’s special blanket became lost after our photo session. It was lovingly made by his grandparents and arrived to swaddle his newborn body.

Another favorite of mine: mother- son moments.

And I love how he’s standing here. Such a little boy!

When Heather asked me to do their family photos again, I knew exactly what I wanted to try with them, as they are a family that LOVES books. So to open our session I asked them to each bring their favorite childrens book. Max knows his by heart and recited the delightful phrases. Heather has great suggestions with books that she mentions on her blogs. I haven’t read “How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?” Looks like I’ll have to check it out too!

I love that Michelle knew exactly what she wanted: fall colors, the right spot, and the best week of the season. Made my job easy, and I couldn’t of had a better shoot.
And some fun trivia, Michelle and I were in some art college class together back when I was a freshman, and wouldn’t you know, all these years later we ended up in the same little town in New Mexico.

Here is an afternoon with Max, grown a year older. It’s so fun to see how past clients have changed. And really what an honor it is to have repeaters, that they invested in me over the years. I’m glad we could make it work to get together in Utah, and I hope they’ll say this was their best shoot yet.
We went to the perfect place for Max to roam around, and throw rocks and ride his little bike. I so love the beautiful outdoors.

Little boy profiles are so adorable to me.

And this one’s for the parents, as we chuckle…because it happened last time too.
