Today

Today outside my window…the sun is coming up. Sunrises are grander with mountains out of the way. Black birds are chirping. The air is calm.

I am thinking about…all the packing I’ve got to do. And a long drive home.

I am thankful for… the peace I feel.

From the kitchen…it is quiet. No one is up.

I am wearing…capri sweats and a t-shirt. I figure I am more apt to work out if that’s what I put on first in the morning.

I am reading…Pride and Prejudice- the classic. Love this book. Elizabeth is visiting her friend, Mrs. Collins.

I am looking forward to…seeing new babies. Photographing spring blossoms. Seeing my family. Getting new business cards in the mail. And our first family photo shoot for us! this Friday.

I am hearing…the fan hum as Perry is next to me in bed not wanting to get up.

A few plans for the rest of the week…weclome Tagg into the world. Get remaining photo sessions scheduled. Find empty boxes.

I need to remember…”for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”

A picture to share…Jack sending kisses to all his loved ones in Utah.

Portrait of a town part III

In this small town, the free zoo just down the street isn’t all too bad. I mean you get to see a bear, an owl, a fox, an eagle, a Lemar, a raccoon, a vulture, a peacock, among all the other usual animals at a free place.
Birds talk and fly about all over the place making you feel like you’re really out in nature, and one spot is like passing through a turf war between the ducks and the black birds. The gang of birds in the trees squawk to the ducks below who make a big ruckus, and we pass by quickly to avoid any bird dropping retaliation.

Since it’s a few blocks away, we get to go often enough. Today, the eagle sure impressed Jack. And from what the locals say, there is an old fashion carousel along with a train ride around the park opening soon. I’m guessing it has a level of rundownness to match the rest of the city, but I’m learning to see the beauty. And enjoy a little stink eye from an owl.

All Jack wanted to do was wiggle out of our arms and go exploring. But as we were right by a main road, that was out of the question.
But I can’t complain about the lack of traffic here, as this photo was taken about 5:30pm.

Portrait of a town part II

I’m back in New Mexico, and a few more places have caught my eye. I’m looking forward to when I’ll have my own car to drive around town. Right now I only get borrowed vehicles some days, and I hear there’s an old airplane grave yard in town. Definitely need to go check that out. And I’m wanting to explore around the old ranches here.

And my second attempt at this spot with a different lens. I think I’ll have to do a family shoot here someday.

And because this is too funny, at least for me:
Today, as I was in the recliner typing away, Jack started licking my leg. Kind of devouring it with both hands, and so intensely that I was afraid he’d start biting. When I pulled away, he drew out his most unhappy face and whined like he hadn’t had a good nap today. (which he hadn’t). After a few attempts of his persistence, I just couldn’t stop laughing and guessed he was super hungry. Salty skin. Come on, you’ve all tried it. So I plopped him in his chair and he ate everything I gave him, and it was around 3:00! Must be having a growth spurt or an urge to cannibalism. I hope the first.
