Oh how I miss my Utah clients!
I’m happy to announce that I have a day set aside for photo sessions while I’m in Utah. If you are interested, shoot me an email and we can discuss the details.
June 30th.
One evening slot available for child or family session.
One mid-day slot available for baby session.

So in Utah I made it a point of taking photos of Scott every day to not waist the newborn phase. Plus it was good practice to try new things and figure out what I like as my style. Here is a sampling of the things we tried, along with different processing. I’m learning that I’m more of a fan of lifestyle photography as apposed to prop photography. Both are popular and have their merits, but I more gravitate to the photos that show beautifully our life with a little one. Yes, it’s fun to have props, and believe me, I have a closet full of them. I’m sure I’ll continue to do both. But my goal now is to create a stunning photograph that I will cherish and bring back the memory of that moment, without all the fluff of props.
And so to illustrate the use of props, here is Butterfly and Boy.
I like it for it’s geometry, symmetry with the table, and color of reddish, blue and yellow. But it’s not real, it’s not our life. I don’t nap my baby on the table, and butterflies don’t roam our house. So Props vs. Lifestyle. You get the picture? What’s your favorite style? And maybe I’m feeling this way because props are way more popular with girls, as I’ve felt more limited with having boys. I have tons of tutus, and skirts, and fairy and princess things that I’m wishing for my own little girl to try them. Maybe someday.

I’m in need of some of this today.
With a headache and a toddler who won’t nap, I’m in need of some computer therapy to distract my head.

Buds and Blossoms

Last January when we decided that moving to New Mexico was our financial plan, I knew immediately I’d miss Utah spring flowers. So as the flowering months arrived, I took daily trips with Jack and my camera, in search of the perfect blossoms. Even a year later as I browse those photos, I find new favorites. Here’s hoping these will hold me over ’til the next time I get to spend Spring in Utah.
.
And as usual, you can find these and other spring blossom prints in my Etsy shop.
Finally, Scott’s birth announcements are done and ordered, and I can’t wait to see them. Pearly finish and all. I tried not to obsess over which images to use, and just went with my gut feeling. But this image was always part of the plan, and I’m happy to share it here.
Here is a peak of one of the images I used. Welcoming our new little bird to the family.

And what’s fun is seeing the behind the scenes. I promise our baby was in no danger of injury as he was well attended. Bird bath was weighed down, baby was sound asleep lulled by a womb noise maker just under the pillow. Although we had an overcast day and I really needed the sun at this location, this shows how well my new lens, Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8L, holds up with a high ISO setting of 1600. I LOVE IT!

Just came across these pics with all his little newborn wrinkles. Only three days old.
