Being frequent Southern Utah dwellers, we didn’t want to let a new baby slow us down this summer. Well, maybe just a little bit.
Even though Jack won’t remember any of it, we sure had fun taking him to some of our favorite hiking spots. I think in his own way he had a great time. 🙂
And while our friend watched Jack at camp, we hiked through one of our favorite slot canyons- Little Wild Horse. Some of the spots would have been too narrow for Jack and his backpack to fit through anyways.
It’s truly an amazing place out in the middle of nowhere.
Then our last day there was spent at my favorite spot in Canyon Lands, Island in the Sky. It’s called an island because there’s cliffs on both sides of this narrow strip of land and we hiked out to the very tip. It’s quiet and in the middle of nowhere. No safety bars- nothing man made. Just you and nature and it’s dangerous grandness.
We had some wind and a few raindrops to battle, but decided to make the mile hike anyway. Jack was a trooper through it all, too.
This is Perry at the very end of the trail. Walk off these boulders and you fall to your death, at least I assume so. I didn’t get too close to the edge, knowing I have a little vertigo with heights and cliff edges. There’s canyons on your left, to your front and on your right. So amazing!
